The Professional Edition is ideal for companies, that want to have automatic access to their domain and/or would like to integrate bestinformed into existing systems.

An overview of the functions of bestinformed Professional:

2. Interface API

The API-interface allows the integration of bestinformed in external applications, such as, for example, help desk systems and databases.

3. Interface "MailToinfo"

"MailToinfo" can be used to send emails to the infoserver. These emails then are processed and presented to the groups addressed.

This function is used, for example, when problems with event managers and databases are reported in the Infoband. Administrators and helpdesk employees can have themselves automatically informed of certain problem reports.

4. Access and synchronization of the Active Directory and/or Windows domains

5. Groupmanager

The groupmanager considerably simplifies the configuration and administration of the groups, as, for example, existing domain groups (Windows NT and AD groups) can be synchronized with the groupmanager of bestinformed.

6. Extended group administration

Domain groups can be easily modified with the groupmanager. Additionally, groups can be imported from external files.

New in Version 4:

The versatile reportgenerator offers comprehensive functions for reporting in all areas of bestinformed.

8. Infoscenarios

Infoscenarios are a very effective tool to send a series of messages with only a few clicks in certain standard situations. Substantial characteristic of Infoscenarios is, that different Infos with different display formats, recipients and contents can be sent by performing only one action. This, in particular, can be used in escalations of IT problems (e.g. person in charge gets different content than ordinary users), or in case of emergency, in which for different buildings different escape routes or measures are to be applied. A further example of use can be different sites in different countries, which are to receive the same message, but with an easily modified content.

By clicking on "Save", both Infos are sent simultaneously.

9. Autogroups

Until now, following options for generating recipients with bestinformed were offered:

• Individual Infoserver groups
• Import of groups from directory services (LDAP)
• Channels
• Dynamic Channels
• Filegroups (list of recipients)

With bestinformed version 4, a further, innovative option is added:
The Autogroups. With this function, for example, groups can be created easily from existing lists, which are scanned automatically and created as Infoserver groups. You can find more information and examples on this feature in the bestinformed manual in the trialversion of bestinformed 4.

10. All Clear function

For each Info, e.g. failure report, a second message can be created as an "All Clear" Info. Thus, standard scenarios can be replicated more easily.

11. Synchronize computergroups from AD

With a new scriptfilter function, now, additional to usergroups, computergroups can be synchronized from Active Directory too.

12. InfoToMail with direct SMTP access

Additionally to the email dispatch through a defined mailclient, a SMTP-server can be directly accessed for distributing emails.
