1. LDAP access

Using the LDAP access, recipient-groups in the Infoserver can be synchonized with groups in directory services (e.g. AD).

2. Filegroups and Autogroups

If user data exists in the form of lists, they can be scanned and the Infoserver can generate groups automatically from these files.

3. Messages from other applications

With the MailtoInfo interface, all applications able of sending emails can easily be connected to bestinformed.

Example:

- Automatic ticker distribution of trouble- or mastertickets from Helpdesk applications.
- Automatic distribution of database error-messages as ticker to administrators.

4. Infoscenarios

When using Infoscenarios, several messages are sent by performing only one action. This is especially important in those cases, where different groups of people need to be informed with different contents or different levels of complexity in an incident. 

Example 1: Firealalert

In a prepared emergency scenario, the following actions are to be released with one click. This can be performed either by one click on the computer, or by a manual, external tracer.

1. Info > group 1 - evacuation on gate 1
2. Info > group 2 - evacuation on gate 2
3. Info > info to group manager/department manager - support evacuation
4. Info > lock screens at group factory pc´s

Example 2: System malfunction in the data processing center

A large application server fails, which hosts two main applications. Now the following Infoscenario can be sent with one click.

1. Info > inform users of application 1
2. Info > inform users of application 2
3. Info > instruct helpdesk agents regarding call acceptance
4. Info > inform group of administrators

5. Reports and Reportgenerator

For revisioning, compliance or other internal control purposes, reports of all activities can be provided by bestinformed. You can use either the samples delivered with bestinformed, or generate your individual reports.
